Sydney’s cocktail aficionados descended on The Loft last week to sample and judge cocktail creations from some of Australia’s finest up-and-coming mixologists. Members of the public were asked to rate bespoke cocktail creations for the second Cocktail Connoisseur, a unique cocktail and bartender judging concept from Suntory Australia.

Over 300 guests enjoyed complimentary cocktails and canapés while Sydney favourites, Martini Club entertained the crowd. Guests were given cocktail casino chips which they used to vote for their favourite bartender and creator of their favourite cocktail of the evening.

The winner, Raymondo Donato of The Croft Institute Melbourne, took out the national title with his cocktail creation, ‘Wolfenbüttel Sour’ winning a trip to visit the best bars and distilleries throughout Japan plus $1,000 spending money. Second place was awarded to Perryn Collier for his ‘Afternoon Highball’ creation, while third place went to Ian Loh, with his ‘Kyoto’s Kick’.
