Stellar* Concepts has joined the French evolution

Stellar* Concepts has been appointed to manage the launch and ongoing public relations strategy for Ananas – a sophisticated and refreshing addition to Sydney’s bar and dining scene.

Set to seduce Sydney with its contemporary take on French Mediterranean glamour, Ananas (French for pineapple) is a modern cocktail and champagne bar complemented by the splendour of an art deco inspired brasserie and late night supper club.

The vision of hospitality entrepreneur John Szangolies, Ananas will recall Europe’s most celebrated venues with DJs spinning French Lifestyle House music each evening until late and a generous after hours bar and supper menu. This is somewhere for Sydney to come for a quick light lunch or to settle in to dine, drink and enjoy the unmistakeable sense of joie de vivre until the early hours.

The Ananas menu for both bar and brasserie has been created by executive chef, Jerome Lagarde, and will be light, modern and produce-centric drawing inspiration from contemporary French brasseries plus his time at Pavilion Costes in Shanghai.

A sweeping pewter bar and antique hanging mirrors dominate the glamorous bar space and will showcase a hand-picked selection of Champagnes to be served by the bottle, magnum and jeroboam. Classic and signature cocktails and an impressive selection of local and French wines (some imported exclusively by the group) will complete the comprehensive drinks list.

An archway takes you to a brasserie offering a selection of seating from leather clad banquettes to intimate tables for two, as well as private dining rooms for larger groups or those seeking a more discreet experience. A custom designed mural graces four large mirrored walls bringing a sense of contemporary France to the dining room.

An eclectic mix of Parisienne flea market finds and quirky art deco curios, including antique bronze hanging birds, silver pineapple lamps, a giant clock and hand-painted tiles cheekily referencing the pineapple, are found throughout both bar and brasserie creating an aesthetic that is low on formality and high on French character.

A dedicated Oyster Bar, inlaid with crustacean tiles, will deliver impeccably fresh shellfish shucked to order and a daily plateau fruits de mer. The full brasserie menu is complemented by a bar menu selection, available as supper until 3am for those wanting to make the most of the late license. Few Sydney venues offer such a complete late night dining experience, so night dwellers and theatre goers will love this très bon brasserie which is perfect for a late bite to eat or a nightcap.

Ananas joins Urban Purveyor Group’s acclaimed multi-level Argyle dining and nightlife precinct in The Rocks district which includes the ever popular hatted Saké Restaurant & Bar and The Cut Bar & Grill, a New York style steakhouse, is housed just a few metres away in a chic subterranean cellar. The precinct centres around iconic nightspot The Argyle, a blended entertainment mecca bringing a distinctive style to the Sydney scene.
